How to Style a Quarter-Zip Sweatshirt: 5 Ways to Wear It This Winter

Delhi winters don't make up their mind. You leave home at 9°C, it's 24°C by lunch, and it's cold again before you're back. A hoodie is too much by noon. A tee isn't enough at 8 AM. A jacket is one more thing to carry.

The quarter-zip sweatshirt solves that. Zip it up to the collar when it's cold, pull it down when the sun comes out, and it looks sharper than a hoodie doing it. Here's what it's good for, and five ways we wear ours.

Why a quarter-zip and not a hoodie

A hoodie has one setting. A crewneck has one setting. A quarter-zip lets you adjust: fully zipped with the collar standing up for cold mornings, half-open over a tee in the afternoon, wide open with the collar folded down at night. It's the same piece doing three jobs.

The stand collar also gives your outfit some structure. It frames your face and makes even a basic fit (denim, sneakers, sweatshirt) look like you thought about it.

What goes into the DVRZI Quarter Zip

We make ours in three colours: Grey, Black and Blue. All three share the same build:

  • 350 GSM ultra-soft cotton fleece. It's heavyweight and warm without being bulky, and it keeps its shape after washing.
  • A stand collar with a smooth quarter-zip that holds up when it's zipped and lies flat when it isn't.
  • Contrast inner lining that shows when you open the zip. It's a small detail, but it's there for a reason.
  • Ribbed cuffs and hem to keep warmth in and stop the sweatshirt from sagging over time.
  • A small DVRZI chest logo. No big branding across the front.
  • Unisex sizing, S to XXL.

5 ways to wear a quarter-zip sweatshirt

1. The everyday fit

Grey quarter-zip + straight or wide-leg denim + white sneakers.

This is the outfit you'll wear most. Grey goes with every shade of denim, and white sneakers keep it clean. Unzip it a couple of inches so the collar opens and the lining shows. It works for college, coffee, errands, or a casual day at work.

2. Gym to street

Black quarter-zip over a fitted tank + joggers or trackpants + trainers.

Wear it zipped up on the way to an early session, then throw it back on after. Push the sleeves up to the forearm (the ribbed cuffs will hold them there). The fitted tank underneath and the heavier sweatshirt on top give you the body-forward shape without freezing on the walk home.

3. The smart-casual layer

Blue quarter-zip over a white tee or collared shirt + chinos or cargos + loafers or clean sneakers.

This is the quarter-zip's classic use, and it still works. Let a white tee show at the neck, or wear a collared shirt underneath with the collar folded over the zip. Blue is the softest of the three and looks great with beige, olive and off-white. Wear it to the office on a Friday, to a family lunch, or on a first date.

4. The mid-layer for cold nights

Any quarter-zip under a puffer, bomber or denim jacket.

In late December and January, the quarter-zip works as your mid-layer. Zip it all the way up so the stand collar sits just above the jacket's neckline. That gives you a neat stacked look at the neck and stops cold air getting in. Take the jacket off indoors and you're still dressed.

5. All black for the night

Black quarter-zip + black cargos or relaxed trousers + boots or chunky sneakers + a silver chain.

Black on black, zip halfway down, chain over the top. The contrast lining at the collar adds just enough detail to make the outfit look intentional. This one's for gigs, nights out, and anything that ends late.

Which colour should you get?

  • Grey is the most versatile. If you're buying one, buy this. It goes with everything you already own.
  • Black is the sharpest. It's the best pick for monochrome fits, nights out and gym-to-street.
  • Blue is the softest. Choose it for smart-casual outfits and for wearing with neutrals like beige, olive and cream.

Fit and sizing

The quarter-zip is cut unisex, from S to XXL. Wear your usual size for a clean, everyday fit, or go one size up if you want a boxier, more relaxed drape. Each product page has a full size guide with measurements, so check it against a sweatshirt you already like.

Caring for heavyweight fleece

To keep it looking new for longer, turn it inside out, wash it cold, and dry it in the shade instead of on high heat. Close the zip before washing so the teeth don't catch on the fleece.
